Bellbowrie Pool Wins National Award 15 August 2013
The Horbury Hunt Award- Commercial Award for the 2013 Think Brick Awards has gone to bureau^proberts for the Bellbowrie Pool.
Following the 2011 Brisbane floods, Brisbane City Council was seeking a new flood resistant pool facility in Bellbowrie. The building form is derived from a response to overland flow and river flooding. The feature brick wall creates a playful, robust street presence and redefines the character of the pool complex. The building is arranged into two pavilions that encapsulate a new landscape square which is overlooked by a community veranda space. Building materials respond to the suburban residential context by utilizing familiar building elements and the brick work detailing references the prominent gum flower trees of the suburb.
