National Police Memorial

bureau^proberts was awarded first prize in the National Police Memorial Design Competition. bureau^proberts collaborated with Urban Art Projects in developing the concept of a 20 meter bronze touch stone wall and terrain area which commemorates the lives of fallen officers and remembers them as real people who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The build form chooses a simple and robust expression that will amplify that message to the visitor and evoke underlying qualities such as honour, protection and bravery. Through ceremony, interaction and reflection the memorial will act as a symbol in connecting the police community and love ones.
The memorial sits on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra. The official dedication ceremony was on National Police Memorial Day on 29 September 2006.
