Location: QUT Gardens Point, Brisbane
Client: Queensland University of Technology
The Chancellery project is a high profile refurbishment project for QUT Chancellery that houses the offices of the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor and their associated staff. The project is based on the second floor of a heritage building at Gardens Point campus. The heritage component is extremely challenging and interesting. The design has emphasized and exposed the existing heritage building elements such as the external perimeter walls and ceilings. Pods are created for internal rooms and these are clad in dark veneer, emphasising the strength of the blocks and allowing the open space to be highlighted. A lighter timber is used to contrast the dark timber, creating a juxtaposition of depth.
