The SILT apartments are 3 bedroom and study apartments with open living spaces that respond to the river bend, Captain Burke Park and the Story Bridge.
The internal spaces are designed around an internal pod. This pod houses the kitchen, laundry and powder room. The inhabitants are led either through into the living space or to the more private spaces, around this pod. The timber veneer clad pod, compliments the building materials of exposed concrete and timber screening, both utilised internally. All the finishes are based on a natural palette in both colour and material. A concrete clad island bench sits as a sculpture in the space and reflects the design language.
The building form and planning allows for interesting internal spaces and connections to the outside. Allowing the construction of the building to be exposed internally provides opportunities for the inhabitants that are different to the norm. The apartments are orientated to maximise views, whilst openings, screens and hoods, reduce the exposure from the sun and the noise from the traffic.
