‘Blue Sky Dreaming’ was the theme for the Australian Pavilion we designed for @Expo2020Australia. The Pavilion hosted its final visitors last week as @Expo2020Dubai came to a close. Conveying meaning through form, the Pavilion used a cumulus cloud made from aluminium blades as a metaphor for national and shared identity.

Says Liam Proberts: “We wanted to capture the Australian qualities of openness and invitation. Cumulus clouds are seen everywhere in our country and are visible in skies around the world.” Beneath the Pavilion’s cloud, a central, open space for gathering, performance, dining and rest proved hugely popular, welcoming well over a million visitors and realising our design intent.

Thank you to everyone who made @Expo2020Australia a huge success.
