Celebrating 30 years.

We are excited to be celebrating the milestone of 30 years in architecture and design through 2021. It comes at a time of exciting growth as our team expands to its largest yet with some of our most significant projects ever undertaken. It’s a good time to reflect on our beginnings and celebrate three practice-defining decades that have shaped the bureau^proberts we know today.

Thirty years ago, Brisbane was a very different place. Expo 88 had instilled a deep sense of pride in the sun-soaked, river-city and a sense of what was possible. The early 1990’s was a time of exploration for the city as well as the beginnings of our practice as we began to engage with urban renewal projects across Brisbane and South-East Queensland.

Through the 2000’s our understanding of ‘place’ deepened as our work explored architectural themes now embedded in our practice – designing for climate, designing for living and the power of ideas moved beyond our city. We found expression in communicating powerful messages through art and architecture in our nation’s capital, Canberra while extending our work across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

During the 2010’s, while completing city-shaping projects down the East Coast of Queensland, links to the UAE and Saudi Arabia were forged and some of our most artistically challenging designs were delivered internationally.  Our awareness for the power of architecture to connect; history, place and people, was strengthened by the confidence we found in our evolving architectural expression and design purpose.

As we head into 2021 we find a renewed sense of vitality in our work in city, coastal and remote territories – both locally and globally. As we continue to leverage the crossover of ideas and knowledge between Development, Residential, Public + Art sectors we hope to achieve and share many more practice-defining moments with you.
