The Eaves receives a coveted industry commendation.

The Eaves—a new three-storey commercial building in Sekisui House’s West Village development—has received a commendation in the 2022 Brisbane Regional Architecture Awards.

The project will now progress to judging in the Commercial category of the Australian Institute of Architects’ Queensland Architecture Awards.

Skillfully melding built form and landscape, The Eaves demonstrates how retail developments can go beyond the ordinary to enhance a sense of place.  Our Creative Director Liam Proberts says “West Village is a lively communal and commercial hub in an existing high street. We wanted The Eaves to contribute to the dynamic streetscape and fulfil a significant role as a civic connector.”

The Brisbane Awards Jury clearly saw the design intent, commenting that the project could be ‘viewed as the connective tissue for the precinct’.

With The Eaves, Sekisui House and bureau^proberts have made a significant contribution to West Village’s urban fabric. The project demonstrates the capacity for retail developments to look beyond purely commercial outcomes and elevate the places they occupy, now and in the future.

We’re excited to learn the outcome of the next judging stage at the Queensland Architecture Awards event at the State Library of Queensland on Saturday 25 June.
