‘Wahat Al Karama’ Memorial Pavilion located in Abu Dhabi, next to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was a collaboration between bureau^proberts, UAP and British artist Idris Kahn. The pavilion is made up of 31 leaning tablets, fixed with over 850 cast aluminium panels inscribed with the names of fallen citizens of the UAE. The tablets lean on each other to represent unified strength – the tallest being 23 meters in height. The monument pays tribute to those who gave their lives in support of their country’s sovereignty, dignity and freedom. The project was shortlisted for the 2017 World Architecture Festival award for Civic and Community – Completed buildings. 📸 Jonathan Gainer Surface Photography #bureauproberts #UAP #architecture #WAF #archdaily #architecturephotography #design
