The Australian Pavilion is commended in the 2022 International Architecture Awards

Our design for the Australian Pavilion, Expo 2020, Dubai, has been commended in the Public Architecture category at the 2022 International Architecture Awards, Australian Institute of Architects.

We were the only Queensland architecture practice to be commended, and only one of four entries worldwide to be credited for design excellence. Obviously, we’re delighted with this recognition.

From the outset, our fantastic client Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade enthusiastically embraced our concept of representing the cumulus cloud (a symbol of blue sky dreaming and infinite opportunity) as an abstracted canopy over the Pavilion’s open forecourt.

We thank DFAT, Australia’s Commissioner-General to Expo 2020 Dubai, Justin McGowan and our many collaborators for supporting our design vision.

As a proud Queensland business, the Pavilion’s remarkable endorsement by over 1.6 million visitors has led to a global market further embracing our locally inspired work.
